Emma Watson at centre of kidnap plot
Emma Watson was allegedly at the centre of a kidnap plot.
The Harry Potter actress is currently filming Beauty and the Beast at Shepperton Studios in England, but British newspaper The Sun is reporting that things nearly took a sinister turn.
Two studio cleaners, thought to be Eastern European, were suspected of planning to either kidnap or rob the star, but were reportedly overheard discussing their plans by a taxi driver who spoke their language.
The quick-thinking cabbie told his bosses, who in turn informed those in charge at the studio.
"There was concern about her safety. The taxi staff reported what had been overheard after a night shoot," a source divulged to the publication. “They said the two studio staff travelling in the cab were chatting in a foreign language, unaware that the driver could understand every word.
“It is shocking to think anyone would want to rob or harm Emma, particularly a member of studio staff.”
Emma is playing Belle in the live action remake of the Disney classic, and is joined in the feature by Sir Ian McKellen, Luke Evans and Ewan McGregor. Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens is playing the Beast, with Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also starring.
This isn't the first time Emma, 25, has had a security scare. While filming 2014 biblical epic Noah, an obsessed fan managed to get on set.
And as Harry Potter drew to a close in 2011, the British star was given a full-time bodyguard after receiving disturbing letters during her time studying in America.
