Ellen Barkin engaged to Amal's lawyer colleague she met at Clooney wedding
Ellen Barkin is engaged – and she has the Clooneys to thank.
The 60-year-old actress met and fell in love with Amal Alamuddin’s co-worker, British barrister and Queen’s Counsel Ben Emmerson, during her star-studded wedding to George Clooney in Venice, Italy, in September.
And following a whirlwind four-month romance, the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas star is now set to walk down the aisle herself.
“Ellen met him at George and Amal’s wedding and they totally hit it off. It happened quickly but she’s totally fallen for him and flies to see him all the time,” an insider confirmed to Us Weekly. “She is so happy and in love again.”
According to a source close to the star, her 51-year-old beau popped the question over the holidays. And she didn’t take any convincing as she’s already completely smitten.
“He is really handsome and smart and charming and swept her off her feet,” the source told the magazine.
While George, 53, and his 37-year-old bride weren’t exactly busy playing matchmaker on their big day, they are said to be over the moon that two of their friends have found love with each other.
According to the insider, the newlyweds “love them together” and are quietly proud of themselves for being the catalyst in making “a great match happen”.
This will be the second marriage for Ellen, who was previously wed to actor Gabriel Byrne from 1988 to 1999 and American businessman Ronald O. Perelman from 2000 until 2006.
She has two children with Byrne – son Jack, 25, and daughter Romy, 22.
