Ed Sheeran has saved a spot for a tattoo when he weds girlfriend Cherry
Ed Sheeran will wait until he marries girlfriend Cherry Seaborn before he gets a tattoo dedicated to his love.
The Shape of You singer is said to have a spot saved for a tattoo tribute to his future wife, although he has yet to pop the question to his childhood friend Cherry, who he has been dating since 2015.
However Ed's favourite tattoo artist Kevin Paul has said the singer has a special spot reserved for a tattoo dedicated to the woman he marries, and has yet to get any ink for Cherry.
The singer has seven puzzle pieces on his arm, each representing one of his close friends, and has left a blank spot to complete the puzzle with a piece representing his future wife.
According to the Star, Kevin said: "He's never mentioned having anything for her. Ed is very close with her, but he's not had anything for her really. I don't think he's planning to," said Kevin.
The singer is known for his eclectic taste, many of his tattoos mark significant events in his life. Among the tattoos is a teddy bear, which pays homage to his childhood nickname 'Teddy', a snowflake tattoo to mark his tour with Snow Patrol in 2012, a tree which stands for his strong family values.
Among Ed's more humorous tattoos is a Heinz logo, representing his love of ketchup and a big cup of tea.
Meanwhile Sheeran says he's the happiest he's ever been after embarking on a relationship with Cherry ahead of his year hiatus from music in 2015.
The 26-year-old Thinking Out Loud hitmaker began dating hockey player Cherry Seaborn in 2015 and the couple, who now live together, recently decided to cement their romance even further by becoming pet parents.
"I'm really secure now, we live together and we have cats, and I think when you have cats that's kind of it," he told BBC Radio 2.
Ed took last year off to focus on chilling out after spending years on the road, and during his relaxation period, his relationship with Cherry, who he has known since high school, only grew stronger.
"I'm actually the happiest I've been and it's because I had a year to spend with someone," he explains.
"I've always started relationships then gone off on tour.
"I spent every day for a year with this certain person, we kind of have a strong relationship now which is good."
Ed is so in love with Cherry, he even wrote the song Perfect for her, a tune which will appear on his forthcoming album ÷ (Divide).
However, he has no idea whether or not she really likes the track.
"I just recorded it and sent it because she was living in New York at the time so I didn't see her reaction," he recalls.
"I think she liked it, it's a good'un."
