Dawn O'Porter has revealed she feels her career has benefited from her long-term love, actor Chris O'Dowd.
The broadcaster, who recently launched her debut vintage fashion line, said she believes her work has been boosted by her high profile husband. And while she is thriving professionally, she spoke of the double standards applies to men and women in the public eye and the different quality of interviews.
"I'm probably more successful than I would be if I hadn't met Chris. I'm alright with that, that's a fact, he elevated me to a position I wouldn't have got to on my own," she said on Angela Scanlon's Close Encounters on RTE Two.
"But sometimes, when I'm promoting my work, I find it really annoying. Chris can promote a movie and just talk about the movie.
"I have to talk about my intentions for children, my child, my relationship - all this stuff before I get asked about my work."
Dawn, who recently welcomed her first child with her husband of three years, a son named Art, said their lives changed "within a week" of Chris' breakout role in 2011 smash hit Bridsemaids.
"I was on massive red carpets but it was nothing to do with me, my career was going really badly at the time," she said.
"It made me uncofmortable. Chris' success did remind me of my own lack of success. I was also very proud of him."
