David Arquette's engagement has 'nothing to do with' ex-wife Courteney Cox's Irish fiance
David Arquette’s fiancée feels like “the luckiest girl” since becoming engaged.
A spokesperson for the 42-year-old actor confirmed on Thursday David had proposed to Christina McLarty, his girlfriend since 2011.
And the entertainment reporter, 33, tells UsWeekly she can’t wait to be his bride.
"He is the love of my life and I love him and my family so much. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!” Christina gushed.
The couple already share a son, two-month-old Charles.
David’s spokesperson earlier confirmed he asked his son’s mother to marry him during a romantic dinner at Mastro's Ocean Club in Malibu, California on Wednesday with a ring from Christina’s favorite jewelry store, Roseark.
The actor made it a family affair, with both Charles and Coco, David’s 10-year-old daughter with ex-wife Courteney Cox, enjoying dinner with the couple.
"He asked her with Coco and Charlie at a family dinner because he wanted the kids to be there and all of them to be together," a source told the outlet.
"She was in the restroom at dinner and when she came out, he told her Charlie had been screaming and crying in the restaurant and asked her and Coco to come calm him down outside, and that's when he asked her to marry him."
Apparently the actor is a traditionalist at heart. UsWeekly also reports he flew to Las Vegas recently to ask for Christina’s father’s permission.
“…It’s been in the works,” the insider said.
The news comes just six days after Courteney revealed she was set to marry musician Johnny McDaid.
The couple announced the news on Twitter, posting a loved-up selfie for their followers.
"I'm engaged to him!", Courteney wrote - Johnny adding on his own account,“"I'm engaged to her!"
The insider tells UsWeekly there was no competition involved, however. Rather, the timing had to do with David and Christina celebrating their anniversary. The couple met during an 80s-themed bash on July 4th.
"It has nothing to do with Courteney's engagement,” the source said.
