Daniel and Majella O'Donnell jet to Portugal to support pal Cliff Richard
Daniel O'Donnell and his wife Majella are sticking by their close friend Sir Cliff Richard.
Richard's Berkshire penthouse was searched for five hours earlier this month and the operation was captured live on camera by the BBC.
The legendary singer was part of an investigation into an alleged historic child abuse incident going back to 1985. He denies the allegation.
Days after the search, Majella even found herself at the centre of a Twitter spat for defending her long-time friend.
The O'Donnells and Cliff enjoy a summer holiday every year and chose to join him at his Portugal mansion with a group of close pals, including friend John McElynn.
Members of the group were spotted popping bottles of Bollinger champagne as they soaked up the sun, also sipping on cocktails, on the balcony inf his plush home, a 16-acre vineyard in Guia.
"The way the police have treated Cliff Richard is completely unacceptable," Majella told her 1,620 followers, posting a link to an opinion piece in a UK newspaper carrying the same headline.
Fellow crooner Chris de Burch also defended his friend, saying he was treated in an 'appalling' manner
"I have known Cliff for many years and always found him a genuine and compassionate man who has done loads of good work for charity," De Burgh told the Irish Independent.
"I hope the rumours are completely unfounded and think the way he was treated by the police and the press was appalling.".
