Cristiano Ronaldo has described fatherhood as "honestly the greatest privilege I've had" in a candid new interview.

The Real Madrid footballer (32) has been busy growing his family in recent years - he welcomed his son Cristiano Jr in 2010 and celebrated the arrival of twins, born via surrogate, in June. His girlfriend of one year Georgina Rodriguez is expecting his fourth child and is due later this month - and they're having a girl, he shares enthusiastically.

When asked about how family life has changed him, he gushed to Hello!: "It's such a unique and personal journey, but something that has completely changed me. It has shown me things about love I never knew existed. It has softened me and given me new perspective on what is really important in life.

"Becoming a parent and raising my family is honestly the greatest privilege I've had. I'm enjoying every second of it."

Having seven years alone with his eldest has given the pair a special bond and he stars alongside his superstar father in the campaign for his CR7 clothing range.

"We have such a special connection which allows us to sit together and joke around and laugh at silly little things," he says of their relationship. "We love playing football and watching movies. He loves football and plays all the time. It's often difficult to get him to come sit down for dinner as he is always outside kicking a ball around. I guess it's in his blood.

"He is a very loving and kind boy, friendly, respectful and super open to meeting new people. Everyone who meets him is always taken aback by the self confidence he carries. This makes me very proud as a father."

The expectant father is thrilled to have time with his two little ones as well, enjoying their first year. "It's such an awesome time for me to bond with my two little ones, quite uniterrupted. Soon they will be grown up, like Cristiano Jr and I won't be able to have those moments with them any more, so I cherish and enjoy every moment I have with them," he added.

And the name of the baby girl they will welcome on November 21?

"The name of my daughter will be Alana Martina. I just wanted to share this with you. I think it it a beautiful name," he said.
