Country music star Lisa McHugh insists she and Nathan Carter are still good friends after split
Singer Lisa McHugh has insisted she and ex Nathan Carter are still good friends after their split.
The Scottish country music star, who is based in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, dated Carter for a number of months last year but the pair parted ways after recording their duet You Can't Make Old Friends.
"We were together for a short period but we became very busy with our careers. We live in the same town and we have the same friends. I have huge respect and admiration for him and it's great we're still good friends," she told the Irish Sun on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old said she receives suggestive messages on social media or sometimes fans can go too far on nights out, but she tries to
"You do come across young lads who are drunk or lairy at shows or send rude messages on Facebook and Twitter. It's very flattering to get messages from fans, but some can go over the top and are rude, intimidating or even scary.
"I may be in the public eye but I don't know why people think it's okay to say rude things to me."
After their split in 2015, the Wagon Wheel singer said it can be difficult to find the right partner in showbiz.
“It’s definitely the downfall of the business, So many musicians are divorced or separated. But when the right girl comes along I’ll know,” he said.
