Conor McGregor admits he’s looking forward to Irish Christmas with girlfriend Dee Devlin after 'a crazy, crazy year'
Conor McGregor may have partied the night away in Las Vegas following his 13-second knockout victory over Jose Aldo, but the new world champion is looking forward to spending Christmas at home with girlfriend Dee Devlin.
‘The Notorious’ revealed that he and Dee are due to return to Dublin to celebrate the holiday after a crazy year, which was geared towards last night’s much anticipated fight in MGM Grand in Sin City.
Speaking at the post match press conference, McGregor revealed that he will enjoy Christmas for the first time in years and he is looking forward to putting up a tree with his long-term girlfriend Dee in Ireland.
"It's Christmas, I'm thinking right now - Christmas.
"In the fight game when you travel around for so long, Christmas is taken from you many times but this time Christmas is not taken from me so I get to go home,” he said.
"I've put in a hell of a lot of work this year, it's been a crazy, crazy year for me so I'm looking forward to going home, building a Christmas tree with my girlfriend, spending time with my family, eating some good, good food and let the plan form,” he said.
McGregor was joined by his family, including his mum Margaret, in the ring following his triumph last night.
The World Champion has previously revealed that Dee is one of the driving forces behind his success and she stood by him during the years he was struggling.
"My girlfriend has been there since the start.
"She has helped me throughout this career.
"If it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't be where I am today.
The pair has been living it up in a six-bedroom mansion on Las Vegas’ Sunrise Mountain ahead of the fight, which boasts a 50-ft infinity pool, a spa and a personal golf course.
The couple enjoyed a celebratory dinner with Conor’s team last night before they attended the after party at SLS Las Vegas.
