Colin Farrell is choosing to be a single dad because it’s ‘easier’
He's one of Hollywood's most desirable bachelors, but Irish actor Colin Farrell maintains that is enjoying being unattached.
The Dublin native has been single for five years, since splitting from Polish star Alicja Bachleda-Curus.
The duo parted ways in 2010, three years after Alicja gave birth to their son Henry.
Colin admitted that he finds the glare of the public and press difficult when it comes to nurturing a relationship.
"You're reluctant to expose someone to that unless you're so much in love that you're both willing to put up with the attention that's going to follow you around," the 39-year-old admitted to OK! Magazine.
He added that while his job comes with a certain element of glamour and excitement, his priority remains his two children Henry (5) and James (12).
"I'm no longer excited by the idea of working on films back-to-back and living the high life in the best hotels in the world. I'm a loving father who takes his responsibility very seriously and I am completely devoted to giving my sons the best life possible."
Colin, who hails from Castleknock, said he is completely content with his "beautiful life".
"My children have given me purpose in my life and I embrace it wholeheartedly.I was caught up in this whirlwind and I had the most amazing time of my life but it was also the kind of life that leaves you empty a lot of the time. I spent a large part of my career having more fun than any man has a right to have but I've left the party."
The True Detective star added that he is single now, mostly because he wants to be.
"I've basically been single for five years and even though I love women, it's difficult to get involved. Being single is much easier," he concluded.
