Clooney 'should play Clegg in film'
George Clooney would be the perfect choice to play Nick Clegg in a film about the Coalition - at least according to the politician's wife.
Miriam Gonzalez Durantez plumped immediately for the Hollywood heartthrob when asked which actor should get the role.
But while she bigged up her husband's looks, she was less complimentary about his kitchen skills.
"As one of his strengths I would not put cooking at the top," she told ITV's Lorraine as her husband joined the programme's chef to promote his policy on free school meals.
Mr Clegg is to be the lead character in a 90-minute Channel 4 drama about the formation of the coalition administration with the Conservatives in 2010.
It has not been revealed who will play the Liberal Democrat leader - but names suggested include Benedict Cumberbatch, Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens, Colin Firth or comic Ricky Gervais.
"Is George Clooney available?" wife Miriam asked the programme.
Shown pictures of some of the suggested alternatives, she said it would have to be "a handsome one".
