Charlene McKenna relocating to New York for love, with Ripper Street co-star
She has been involved in a long-distance love affair for a year and now Charlene McKenna is making the move to the Big Apple to be with her man.
The 30-year-old star of TV hits including Pure Mule, Whistleblower, Raw, and Ripper Street is reportedly been dating her Ripper co-star, US actor Adam Rothenberg, who plays Captain Homer Jackson.
The loved-up pair were spotted hand in hand during filming of Ripper Street in Dublin this summer.
Speaking to The Sunday World magazine, she said, "I'm not single and I've been doing long-distance for the last while. He's based out there and with this move to New York, I won't be doing it anymore.
"It's going to be different, and I'm looking forward to it. Although [the distance] was good for me, I could put my phone down and have my way. Now I won't have that anymore."
It's a win win situation for Charlene for her personal and professional life as she is also set to take to the US stage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
The petite star is to appear in Richard Eyre's award-winning adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's classic Ghosts, which has won three Olivier Awards.
She will be reprising her role of servant Regina in the production, which was a success at London's Trafalgar Studios earlier this year. Ghosts will run from March to May in New York next year.
"I've been thinking about New York for a while and one of my best friends from home was going so I just thought 'Why not!'
"It feels like the right time for me.' And luckily, the news came that Ghosts was moving over so it couldn't be more perfect."
