Caitlyn Jenner breaks her silence on daughter Kylie's baby - after missing the birth while in Dublin
Caitlyn Jenner has finally spoken about her new granddaughter and praising her 20-year-old daughter Kylie, who has just become a first-time mother.
After nine months, on Sunday, Kylie finally confirmed she had given birth, welcoming a baby daughter with boyfriend Travis Scott, marking the occasion with a heartwarming 11-minute video shot by family and friends and uploaded onto YouTube. However, one person conspicuously absent from the homemade film was her father, bringing forward claims their relationship was frosty as Caitlyn was in Dublin at the Xpose Benefit Awards on Thursday night while her daughter was in labour in Los Angeles.
But the Olympic gold medallist (68) paid fitting tribute to her daughter on Instagram, sharing a picture of Kylie as a baby.
"My daughter just had a daughter. It’s amazing to be by your side through this journey," she wrote. "She’s SO beautiful already. Can’t wait to watch her grow. Throwback to my baby, as a baby."
While Kylie hasn't publicised her daughter's name yet, she did issue a lengthy statement detailing her reasons for avoiding public life for much of the last year, which she largely did to protect her privacy.
"I'm sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions," she said in a statement.
"Pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering, and life changing experience I've had in my entire life and I'm actually going to miss it," 20-year-old Kylie added.
"I knew my baby would feel every stress and every emotion so I chose to do it this way for my little life and our happiness."
"Pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering, and life changing experience I've had in my entire life and I'm actually going to miss it. I appreciate my friends and especially my family for helping me make this special moment as private as we could.
Meanwhile, her family were quick to publicly congratulate her nearly immediately after she shared the news with the rest of the world.
Her older sister Kim Kardashian, who welcomed her third child - a daughter Chicago - last month, said their daughters will be "besties".
"I’m so incredibly proud of the woman you have grown up to be and I know that you are going to be the best mom to your new baby girl," Kim wrote on her website.
"Our girls are two weeks apart and I can’t wait for them to be besties! I am so proud that you do what you want to do and live your life the way you want, you will pass down all of those amazing qualities to your baby girl.
"You were made to be a mom! I love you!"
