Brooke Shields reveals the very cringe chat-up line Donald Trump used on her
Brooke Shields has spoken about how she rejected a date with US president Donald Trump, as well as the embarrassing chat-up line he used on her.
In a new interview, the 52-year-old actress revealed the former Apprentice star called her following his divorce from second wife Marla Maples in 1999. Trump was married to Maples for six years after splitting with his first wife Ivana, who is the mother of his three oldest children Ivanka, Donald Jr and Eric. He has a daughter Tiffany with his second wife.
During an appearance on What What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the legendary star revealed Trump approached her with a very cheesy pick-up line/
"He said, 'I really think we should date because you’re America’s sweetheart and I’m America’s richest man and the people would love it.'"
In response, she said: "I have a boyfriend, he’s not going to be happy about it."
Shields isn’t the only celebrity to have turned down Trump’s romantic advances. Last October, Salma Hayek claimed she said no to the real estate mogul, and as a result he planted a tabloid story about her, supposedly calling her " too short".
After befriending the actress and her then-boyfriend at an event, Trump apparently tried to get the star to cheat on him by saying he was "not important".
"Now he's calling [me] and he's inviting me out, and I said, ‘What about my boyfriend? Am I crazy? Are you asking me out? You know I have a boyfriend’,” she told Trevor Noah on The Daily Show.
Actresses Candice Bergen and Emma Thompson have also spoken out about their encounters with the property tycoon.
Trump married his third wife Melania Knauss in 2005, despite also initially rejecting him. The billionaire asked Melania for her number at a party in New York in 1998 – and she said no.
Trump had had arrived with another woman, but he sent her to the bathroom so he could chat up the future First Lady.
She told GQ magazine: "If I give him my number, I'm just one of the women he calls." She waited to see if he would give her a personal or a business number, to assess what his intentions might be.
"It tells you a lot from the man what kind of number he gives you," she said.
She revealed Trump ended up giving her "all of his numbers".
