Billionaire James Packer 'dumps' fiancée Mariah Carey 'over extravagant spending'
James Packer and Mariah Carey have reportedly called off their engagement.
The billionaire businessman (48) and award-winning singer (46) became engaged in January after less than a year of dating, but now it's reported their romance is over for good as their relationship was moving in different directions.
Carey recently agreed to film an E! reality show Mariah's World which caused tension between the pair and according to Australian tabloid Woman's Day, Packer took issue with her "extravagant spending".
The five time Grammy winner has an estimated fortune of $500m, but her former fiancé boasts a casino empire worth $3.4bn.
"It's all over," an insider told the magazine.
"James had huge reservations about Mariah's new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.'"
Neither are stranger to high profile relationships - Packer previously dated Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr, who is now engaged to Snapchat billionaire Evan Spiegel, while Carey has two children with ex-husband Nick Cannon, whom she split with in 2014.
Packer popped the question with a ring worth an estimated $7m and it was reported soon after the engagement news broke that Mariah wanted a no expense spared wedding.
"She wants the biggest wedding in history. She has every intention of playing the 'billion dollar bride' and James has given her an unlimited budget," an insider told Britain's Heat magazine, adding the pair want three special days of celebration.
She quashed the claims in an interview with People, coyly saying: "I can't really talk about them right now because everything is still being figured out. I never said it was gonna be a big wedding."
