Bake Off's 'bingate' contestant serves up Baked Alaska wedding cake

The Great British Bake Off contestant at the centre of 2014's "bingate" made the unlikely choice of a Baked Alaska for his wedding cake.

Iain Watters won the public's sympathy when he discovered that his Baked Alaska had been removed from the freezer by fellow contestant Diana Beard, and had completely melted.

In a rage, he dumped his creation in the bin and stormed out of the Bake Off tent. Watters later had to physically present the bin to judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry as his submission.

Despite having to leave the show after the disastrous challenge, he opted for a Baked Alaska for his wedding on Friday to Catriona Mills.

The big day was well-attended by Bake Off alumni.

2014 quarter-finalist Martha Collison shared a picture of the non-melted Bake Alaska, asking: "Is there a better wedding cake for @iain_watters?!"

Bake Off finalist Richard Burr contributed a carrot cake, a Lotus Biscoff cake and a lemon meringue layer cake to the celebrations - with at least 14 bakes on offer to guests at the "cake bar".

He and semi-finalist Chetna Makan were on hand to dole out the desserts.

Also providing support at the wedding were fellow contestants Kate Henry, Enwezor Nzegwu, Jordan Cox, Nancy Birtwhistle and Claire Goodwin.

One Twitter user joked: "I hope the cake was served in little bins."
