It has been quite a year for TV3 rising star Siobhan Bastible.

Last March the brunette beauty married her husband Anan McMahon in a secret ceremony, with only close friends and family invited.

Now the couple are celebrating the news that Siobhan is pregnant with the couple's first child.

The 37-year-old face of TV3's courts coverage also kept mum about her new arrival until this weekend, when she confirmed she is six months pregnant.

Siobhan told the Sunday Independent: "Yes I am actually rushing to court right now for TV3, but I can tell you I am expecting."

She added: "Anan and I are really private, but we are super excited about our new arrival. I'm having a summer baby - I'm due in July."

The petite news anchor has worked in TV3 for almost 10 years in numerous capacities.

She was the anchor for Ireland AM for six years, and has also anchored the news for Tonight with Vincent Browne.

Last February she set herself a new challenge, and is now reporting from the courts as a correspondent.

But she still likes to fill in as news anchor from time to time, saying: "It's important to multi-task!" And as her due date approaches, the ambitious beauty has no intention of slowing down her hectic work schedule.

"I'll work right up until the end," she said.

Siobhan began her media career as a researcher on the current affairs show Agenda on TV3, working with economist and broadcaster David McWilliams.

But she says she has always had her sights set on documentary-making. "It's great that TV3 have a documentaries department. When I first started in journalism, I saw documentaries as the end goal. I still do."

Siobhan met her husband almost 10 years ago at a fancy dress party, but they were friends for eight years before they finally started dating. But once they did strike up a romance, she says: "I knew it was right from the start."

Unlike some of her high-profile colleagues, Siobhan is not one to court publicity, and laughed off any suggestions of magazine deals when the baby is born.

Speaking about her low-key marriage, Siobhan told the Sunday Independent: "I didn't want a fuss so I told my colleagues in work a month or two beforehand and booked 10 days off when we got married last year."

She added: "Anan and I are both pretty private, but we did have a drinks reception for around 40 friends during the summer in the Exchequer Bar in Ranelagh. After 10 years in TV3 I've obviously a lot of friends in the media, so people like Colette Fitzpatrick, Dyane Connor and Sharon Tobin were all there."

The down-to-earth couple even opted to ditch the traditional honeymoon, and instead spent time with their family, who were "all together in Ireland for once".

Siobhan and Anan did treat themselves to a few days in at the renowned Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Co Waterford, before heading to Killarney's Europe Hotel for "a family weekend away".

And the loved-up couple had such a memorable time at the Cliff House they plan to revisit it this weekend to celebrate their first anniversary as a married couple.

She said: "Spectacular scenery and service, we are going to return this weekend for our one-year anniversary."
