Aoibhinn Ni Shúilleabháin receives PHD from Trinity College

TV presenter, former Rose of Tralee winner and academic Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain added another string to her bow on Friday as she received her her PHD in Mathematics Education from Trinity College.
Ni Shuilleabhain, who lectures in mathematics in UCD, was all smiles as she posed for pictures to celebrate her big achievement.

The Mayo woman took to Twitter to celebrate the milestone by sharing a photo of herself and gay rights activist, Panti Bliss, otherwise known as Rory O'Neill who received an honorary degree from the university.
Mr O'Neill said the award had taken on special significance "because of the very special year it had been for the LGBT community in Ireland".

He received his doctorate, along with fellow campaigner Independent Senator David Norris.
Other notable recipients honoured yesterday included Nelson Mandela’s widow and women’s and children's rights advocate Graca Machel, as well as campaigner for the homeless, Fr Peter McVerry, and the Holocaust survivor Tomi Reichental.
