Aisling Bea in The Handmaid's Tale costume and Alan Carr as Gemma Collins may have just won Halloween this year
Is there anything more 2017 than The Handmaid's Tale?
Margaret Atwood's 1985 dystopian novel finally got the small screen treatment (and a slew of well deserved Emmys for its cast), but it's also gained new life as a symbol of a patriarchal protest movement. Irish comedian Aisling Bea and author Sara Pascoe made a very modern statement at Jonathan Ross' Halloween party last night, arriving in red floor length capes, white bonnets and "2 pot-plants we’d saved from creeps" and we applaud them.
The London bash also saw Ed Sheeran and girlfriend Cherry Seaborn arrive hand in hand in pimp costumes, but Alan Carr won the night in a spooky recreation of Gemma Collins' now-iconic orange dress filming TOWIE earlier this year.
While it seems like Halloween lasted a week this year, it's finally come to an end as celebrities in Hollywood and beyond shared their favourite looks from this year - from Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel's adorable Toy Story set-up with their two-year-old son Silas to Jenna Dewan Tatum and Channing Tatum's very convincing Sally and Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas at the request of their daughter Everly.
Khloe Kardashian, who is reportedly expecting her first child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson, went full Mother of Dragons in her Game of Thrones costume, showing off a hint of midriff. Meanwhile, her sister Kim took the opportunity to go for four different costumes this year, including Marilyn Monroe, Selena Quintanilla, Cher and a controversial Aaliyah.
