Looking to the future: Barry Keoghan has been tipped as one to watch

It's time to reflect on those who changed 2017 for the better and whose success are about to reach new, deserved heights over the next 12 months.

You might know this 27-year-old as her online alter ego Minnie Melange, well it's not so much an alter ego as a username that has stuck. A vocal advocate for inclusivity, after years of making waves in Ireland, she was recognised internationally for her efforts last month when she was invited to speak at the Business of Fashion's annual VOICES event London, which is "an annual invitation-only event bringing together the movers, shakers and trailblazers of the fashion industry". It's safe to say the future is bright.

She's only 20 years old but already somthing of an industry veteran after being snapped up by Andrea Roche at an agency open day when she was just 15. Clara, from Maccroom, Co Cork, is now based in New York and has walked for everyone from Badgley Mischka to BCBG Max Azria - not to mention landing a coveted beauty campaign with Sephora this summer. "I think she's the most successful Irish model in the last few years and not just because she's my own," Andrea told me in September.

This 19-year-old from Cork has spent most of the last year travelling across Europe for work and after finishing her Leaving Cert, went straight for it full-time. She's represented by Lockdown and MiLK in London and has featured at LFW and New York Fashion Week and is working with that quiet confidence so rarely seen in Irish modelling.

Barry Keoghan

This one hardly comes as a surprise given Variety and The Hollywood Reporter beat us to it, but at 25, Kegohan, from Dublin's Summerhill is a star on the rise worthy on the praise bestowed upon him by critics, co-stars and just about everyone he meets. In addition to his brand ambassadorship with Dior to carry him through to next year, he's preparing for the release of another two films: Black 47 and American Animals. Not to mention whispers of an Oscar nomination for Killing Of A Sacred Deer.

Aaron Hurley

Aaron's name is already a familiar one in Irish media circles - he's a respected photographer who has shot countless campaigns, editorials and model headshots this year. His work is beautiful and inspiring and his Instagram stories are a proper look into behind the scenes life. Not to mention he's still only 20.

Hannah Rose May

This model-turned-actress has been US-based for most of her career, but it looks like she might be achieving the near impossible, a successful career on the big screen. In 2018, she's preparing for the release of her first feature film, The Recall opposite Wesley Snipes.

Daniel Paul

"If you could invent something tomorrow, what would it be?" If your answer was "Airbnb for parking in Dublin", I hate to break it to you, but Daniel Paul beat you to it. This 22-year-old student is convinced he's got a relatively easy solution to the parking crisis in the city centre in his Parkpnp app, which was officially launched in January of this year.

Lisa and Vanessa Creaven

We're a sucker for a good start-up success story, but this one is made all the more special by the fact that Vanessa and Lisa Creaven are sisters. Smart sisters - they're both dentists and launched their successful Spotlight whitening strips in 2016 and have already become market leaders, reaching sales of 500,000 online in this last year. Prepare for more from this glamorous pair who prove some people do have it all.

Colin Horgan

This Irish designer is no stranger to celebrity endorsements, but Lady Gaga wearing his liquid trousers at the Toronto International Film Festival and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards being photographed in his work in October means new, exciting heights. And we can't wait to see who wears him next.
