THERE used to be a time when celebrity couples did their best to keep their relationships under wraps.
All we had to rely on for confirmation was perhaps a grainy paparazzi photograph, usually taken with a long lens and shot from behind a bush outside a star’s security-laden home in Hollywood.
But now celebrities bring their relationships to a whole new level of exposure. Take Julia Fox (31) and Kanye West (sorry, Ye) as the perfect case in point.
Although they only started dating after meeting in Miami on New Year’s Eve, Fox has already proved herself as adept as West’s famous ex, Kim Kardashian, when it comes to claiming the headlines globally.
Far removed from the coyness that most stars exhibit at the start of a relationship, the Italian-American actress has helpfully written a blog post called ‘Date Night’ for an American magazine. The blog post is about their month-long romance.
She wrote about having an “instant connection” with West (44) when they met in Florida. He brought her to New York to see Slave Play for their second date – where he presented her with an entire hotel suite full of clothes. As you do.
“It was every girl’s dream come true. It felt like a real Cinderella moment. I don’t know how he did it, or how he got all of it there in time. But I was so surprised. Like, who does things like this on a second date? Or any date! Everything with us has been so organic,” she said.
Speaking on her podcast this week, Fox hit back at suggestions that she was only attracted to West because of his €1.8bn fortune. “It’s funny because I’m getting all of this attention, but I really couldn’t care,” she said.

“People are like, ‘Oh, you’re only in it for the fame, you’re in it for the clout, you’re in it for the money. Honey, I’ve dated billionaires my entire adult life, let’s keep it real.”

Since they first hooked up, they have been pictured stepping out in matching outfits in a hark-back to Kanye’s early days of dating Kardashian.
Whether it’s donning full-leather ensembles or doing ‘double denim’ at Paris Fashion week, this couple have quickly become social media’s new obsession.
This week, Fox even took a leaf out of Kim’s book by giving a nickname to her relationship with Kanye. She captioned one Instagram picture of them as “Juliye”.
But just who is Julia Fox, who appears to have come out of nowhere to steal the attention of one of America’s most famous and often controversial superstars?
She’s a colourful character, to say the least, and has had an eventful life in the run-up to meeting her celebrity boyfriend.
Born in Milan to an Italian mother and an American father, she spent her early years living in Italy before moving to New York where she lived in Manhattan.
She had a string of different jobs including working in a shoe shop and an ice-cream store. She even worked as a dominatrix for six months after seeing an ad online.
"I was scrolling, and in between ads for prostitutes, I clicked on one that said 'no nudity, no sex’. That appealed to me," she told Rolling Stone.
"You're given a few words on what the client's interests are and then you have to build from there and improvise the rest. So, imagine having to do that multiple times a day in different outfits – a nun, teacher, nurse, mum – according to the clients' desires. I went in an angsty teenager and left a really self-assured woman."
Fox also worked as a designer and a model, posing for the final nude edition of Playboy in 2015. She has a keen interest in art and in 2017 hosted an art exhibit entitled RIP Julia Fox, which featured silk canvases painted with her own blood.
Fox got married in 2018 to a pilot named Peter Artemiev. She had a baby boy with Artemiev named Valentino, who turned one last week.
The relationship has soured in recent times and she posted a series of messages giving out about him.
Fox made her feature film debut in the 2019 Safdie brothers film Uncut Gems which saw her playing a showroom saleswoman and mistress of the film's protagonist Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler).
For that role, she was nominated for several prestigious awards, including Best Supporting Actress from the Toronto Film Critics Association.
