Kathryn Thomas: Last year was great but losing Padraig’s mother made it one of the toughest
Presenter Kathryn Thomas has revealed that her and her partner Padraig McLoughlin experienced the “greatest but toughest” year in 2014.
Kathryn was extremely saddened at the death of Padraig’s mother Joan after a relatively short battle with cancer.
“She was a wonderful, beautiful lady and I just wish I had got to spend a little more time with her,” Kathryn recently wrote in her column in The Irish Daily Star.
“During what was a very sad time, it was incredible to witness friends, family and neighbours coming together to honour and remember a remarkably special person.”
The Carlow native revealed to Woman’s Way about she and Padraig are happier than ever, since moving in together last year.
“We’re totally happy,” she said. “It’s brilliant, it absolutely is. Last year was a great year for both of us in so many ways, and it’s been the toughest as well. You’re both able to help each other in a way that brings out the best in you”.
The 36-year-old’s career continues to rise from strength to strength and she can now be found at the forefront of the country’s biggest entertainment shows; Operation Transformation and The Voice of Ireland
A self proclaimed fidgeter - she says she simply can’t sit still - Kathryn has no plans to rest on her laurels just yet.
Though she has no new work commitments set in stone for the year, she hasn’t ruled out a move to radio.
“There’s nothing that’s been confirmed but just lots of movement and lots of talking,” she teased.
What she is working on, however, is incorporating more time to relax and recuperate.
“I think I could be a little difficult in terms of it was always a bit frantic and frenetic. So I’ve learnt and I’m getting there that it’s okay just to sit and it’s okay to have your days off,” she laughed.
Issue 6 of Woman’s Way is on newsstands now.
