Irish actress Caitriona Balfe rubs shoulders with Hollywood’s hottest stars at SAG Awards
Leading lady Caitriona Balfe flew the flag for Ireland as she wowed in a patriotic orange dress at the SAG awards last night.
Joining the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore and Sofia Vergara, the Monaghan native opted for a tangerine dress by minimalist label Solace London as she graced the red carpet.
Allowing the architectural gown to do the talking, the 35-year-old kept accessories simple opting for simple jewels and tomato-red heels and clutch.
The actress has enjoyed a prosperous career in Tinsel town since landing the role of Claire Beauchamp, a WWII nurse in the cult series Outlander.
The former DIT drama student was learning her craft when she was model scouted in a shopping centre. It wasn’t long before the statuesque brunette was stalking the catwalk for Roberto Cavalli, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, and she became the first ever Irish woman to model on the Victoria's Secret runway.
Despite being cited as Ireland’s most successful international fashion model, Caitriona has stated that modelling was never her passion.
“It got old kind of quickly, I was getting very frustrated,” she previously said.
Her film credits include minor roles in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and Steven Spielberg’s ‘Super 8’.
She bagged the lead role on Outlander in September 2013 and immediately impressed both critics and fans.
Last month, Entertainment Weekly named the Irish woman as one of their “12 Breakout Stars of 2014” and she has been tipped as one to watch by The Hollywood Reporter and Vanity Fair.
