Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton announced the happy news on Monday, that they're expecting baby number two next year.

The royal couple are already proud parents to George, who was born in July 2013.

Former soccer star David is good friends with the couple and attended their 2011 wedding.

As a father of four, he's happy to pass on some pearls of wisdom when it comes to parenthood:

"Get some sleep, because jumping from one child to two is a big step; even though I thought jumping from two to three was bigger," David laughed on British TV show Lorraine.

"But I'm so happy for them both, because they're such great parents and obviously to be great parents and to have the roles they have, as important as they have, is really incredible. And I'm just happy that they're going to have another little one running around the house."

David and wife Victoria have four children: Brooklyn (15), Romeo (12), Cruz, (9) and three-year-old Harper.

The handsome sportsman already offered up some tips to dad-to-be William last year, before the arrival of George.

He reportedly called up the royal to offer his congratulations and shared his own hints on how to handle dad duties.

"As soon as David heard that Kate had given birth, he called his good friend William to congratulate him," a source previously told Star magazine.

"David talked to Wills about fatherhood and offered advice on dealing with late nights. He also arranged for him and Victoria to meet up with the new family."
