Ben Affleck’s mum is “picking up the pieces” of his broken marriage to Jennifer Garner
Following his separation from his wife Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck is said to be relying on his mum for support as the pair prepare to divorce.
The Hollywood director and Garner announced their separation in June, one day after their 10th anniversary.
Affleck’s mum Christine is said to be keen to keep her son close by and as she has been through a marriage breakdown herself, feels that she is a good support for Ben.
“Ben’s mum Christine is in full control of everything right now as he picks up the pieces from his broken marriage,” a source Grazia magazine.
“Chris’ boys, Casey and Ben, have always been the apple of her eye, ever since her husband left her. Ben’s always been close to his mum, but he seems to have taken it to a whole new level since the split.”
Affleck is said to be spending increasing amounts of time in Boston to spend time with his mum. The director is also scouting out locations for his upcoming movie Live By Night.
“Ben’s in a pretty bad way,” the insider added.
“He’s not really taking care of himself, he’s not shaving, hardly washing and eating a lot of junk food and his mum can’t bear to see him like this. She convinced him to stay in their family home so she could nurse him back to health. Now she’s really pushing for him to move in full-time once he starts filming.”
The couple are said to be keen to remain friends and sparked rumours of a reconciliation when they were spotted after a family counselling session during the summer.
Affleck and Garner have three children together, nine-year-old Violet, six-year-old Seraphina and three-year-old Samuel.
“They are working together and are keeping it amicable,” a source told People.com.
"This is something they have been working on for over a year – and they continue to be strong unit. It's not just for the kids – it's also for them. They care about each other."
