Triona's trends: Smoky eyes
I’ve been over false eyelashes for a while now. They work for lots of peeps, but I think they make me look like Triona the Transvestite.
Now, I’m all about a really good mascara and my absolute number one at the mo is Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara, €21. I love the oversized, multidimensional moulded brush; it gives my lashes a faux-lash effect, and the domed end is perfect for those awkward corner lashes. If you like a really heavy-looking mascara, you’ll love this. I’ve also gone gaga over Apparence, a new limitededition Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow shade, above right, €29, from Chanel’s Holiday Collection. I pop it on my lids using a finger, then I buff out the edges with a brush — my eyes are done in a nanosecond. Eyeliner can be so tricky but it really is worth the effort when you get it right.
I’ve been known to do one eye beautifully, then totes mess up the other, giving myself a mismatched, mad look. The L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche eye pencil, Le Smokey, left, €7.69, in Black, with a very handy smudger at the end, is a cinch to use. If you do muck up your line, use the smudger for a sexy, smoky look. For my picture, above, I used Film Noir Lacquer, €28, by Hourglass, from Harvey Nichols. It’s perfect for flicks.
Finally, you have to see the new Mac Fabulousness Eye Shadow palettes, €49, Brown Thomas. Great-giftfor- a-girl alert! Neutral Eyes is my fave
