Find out how to make your make up really last the pace with tricks and top product picks from our beauty expert Triona McCarthy
Yippee! My baby brother Gavin is getting married to his gorgeous girlfriend, Lynn. I can't wait for the wedding this time next year.
Anyhoo, it got me thinking how it's wedding season, so I thought this week we should get to grips with long-lasting make-up.
Primer is essential, as it creates a smooth, shine-free base for foundation to cling to. Shu Uemura's UV Under Base SPF 30, €33, Brown Thomas, with its mousse formula, dries fast.
Clarins Everlasting Compact Foundation, €37, is SPF 15; I'd highly recommend this solid cream foundation -- it has an ultra-fine, wet and dry texture, which guarantees flawless make-up for 15 hours. To ensure you're not washed out by the photographer's flash, Lancome Blush Subtil Palette, below left, €48, is a blusher, bronzer and highlighter in one compact that blends beautifully and lasts for over eight hours of continuous wear.
For eyes, choose Max Factor's False Lash Effect Mascara 24 Hour, above left, €12.99, which does exactly what it says.
Try Bobbi Brown's Long-wear Cream Shadow Sticks, below right, €22, in Violet Plum, as a base. Then use Vanilla, a creamy pale gold, as a highlighter -- these colours suit everyone -- along with Chanel Long Lasting Eyeliner in Noir Intense, €23, which is waterproof, so it won't budge.
Finally, outline lips with a Mac Pro Longwear Lip Pencil, €17, before applying a tonal lipstick over the top so that the lipstick lasts longer.
