I love nothing more than getting together with my fellow beauty-writer friends for a good old beauty gossip, and during last month's London Fashion Week, the whispers were mainly about what Dyson's latest invention would be.

And here it is, the Dyson Corrale Straightener, below, €499. It's the only straightener that has flexing plate technology - it moulds to the hair section that's being styled, giving the user greater control, while reducing the reliance on heat, and lessening damage by 50pc.

To buy, learn more, or experience it, visit a Dyson Demo store - for details, see dyson.ie.

Great hair days

I've always said that behind every great head of hair is a great hairstylist, and the man behind many a famous head of hair is Dublin-born Andrew Fitzsimons - Khloe Kardashian, pictured right, is among his celebrity clients.

Luckily for us, he has never forgotten his roots, because he's teamed up with Penneys to launch an exclusive collection of hair tools and products that promises to turn every day into a great hair day, all without breaking the bank.

His collection includes everything from wet-hair products, to styling products and accessories. A favourite of mine is the deeply nourishing Repair Hair Mask, €3.50, Penneys, which will restore damaged hair to its healthy best.

Pillow Talk

Because Mr and Mrs White's pillow talk these days is usually shouting instructions at one another about Mini and Maxi, I try to go for the smouldering bedroom-eyes look during the day!

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Eyeliner, right, €25, is the dream. This smoky berry-brown shade makes all eye colours pop - and is far more chic than an obvious black liner. It's easy to blend, long-lasting and is perfect for adding serious definition. It also goes on smoothly and effortlessly.

I'm getting more and more into natural perfumes and body oils.

The scent from a body oil lasts three to four hours and is soft and subtle. Any scent that lasts longer is made with synthetic fragrance, which often isn't very good for us.

Cult product

Check out the range of Lusso Tan vegan and cruelty-free self-tanning products by Belfast sisters Lynsey, Leah and Sarah. The limited-edition Lusso Tan Self-Tan Removing Bath Bomb, €10, and the Lusso Tan Summer Meadow Bath Bomb, €10, are packed full of essential oils and will leave your skin tan-free, feeling velvety smooth and hydrated.

For every limited-edition bath bomb purchased, 50c will be donated to Down Syndrome Ireland. See lussotan.com

Triona's top trends

'A' is for A-mazing skin! Vitamin A, that is! This is the go-to ingredient everyone loves and wants to use, but many of us don't understand what it is, what it does, or how to use it.

I'm here to help.

Enzymes in our body help convert retinol to retinoid acid, an active form of vitamin A, so that goes a long way to explaining why ultimately it's good for us and our skin.

Retinol, when used correctly, can work wonders for our skin; it helps to unclog pores, exfoliate and smooth the skin, and even reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation, cystic acne and wrinkles. It does this by increasing cell turnover and collagen production, creating thicker, more youthful-looking skin.

For best results, it's recommended to use retinol products at night, starting with one night a week and building up slowly, adding on an additional night as the weeks progress. It's important to build up to whatever works best for your skin. Some people may find they are able to use retinol every single night.

Dr Murad's new and improved Retinol Youth Renewal Collection takes the fear factor out of using retinol. These retinol products have all been tested for sensitive skin. The time-released retinol delivers consistent, sustained levels over time, minimising the potential for irritation.

There's the Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream, above, €80; and Retinol Youth Renewal Serum, €90 - both will help to improve firmness and radiance while minimising lines and deep wrinkles, and evening-out the skin tone. The Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum, right, €90, which is for the under-eye area, also features illuminators for an enhanced brightening effect.
