One of the hardest parts of my job is having to keep secrets. I’m a talker and an over-sharer, so when I’m asked to keep schtum about a big launch, or a piece of exciting news, it takes all my energy to make sure I don’t let anything slip.

I know, I know, if that’s the hardest part of my job, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. And I had even less to complain about last month when I flew to London to meet the new face of Armani — a secret I managed to keep up until recently. Drum roll, please — the new face of Armani Code fragrance is the absolutely gorgeous Regé-Jean Page.

The former Bridgerton star is the embodiment of this new release — masculine yet modest and effortlessly cool, just like the Armani brand. Armani Code is enveloped in a new eye-catching bottle that’s refillable. Those who are already a fan of the scent will be delighted that it has kept its woody aroma and fullness.

The new product is launching in September, and Page is already aligning himself closely with the brand, having attended the Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2023 Menswear Collection show in Milan. And yes, I was a little shaken and stirred — oops!

If you want a ‘no make-up’ make-up look but can’t bear to part with your foundation, make a feature out of your freckles and beauty marks. For a very modern look, use a brown eyeliner pencil to add some sun spots or to highlight the freckles you have covered up!

Bada Bader bing!

I met Professor Augustinus Bader, the biomedical scientist and physician, at an exclusive lunch recently. As an expert in stem-cell biology and regenerative medicine with 30 years of experience, Bader knows a thing or two when it comes to formulas that are kind to skin cells.

The newest addition to Bader’s line of science-backed skincare is The Light Cream With TFC8, €155. It was being launched at the recent event, so I got to try it first-hand — and it’s worth the hype!

In an effort to be kinder to the planet, refills are now all the rage. If you’re looking for a new scent, or are a fan of lingerie brand La Perla, check out its signature eau de parfum, from €68.50 for 30ml. You can now buy a 100ml refill, which is amazing value at €105.50. See arnotts.ie.

Hot to trot

As you read this, I’m holidaying in my hometown of Schull in West Cork with all my family, including my little sis Laura, who’s home from Oz with baby Archie and her hubby Adam.

Usually, on a summer Sunday, we have a mooch around the market, head for lunch in The Townhouse OD’s — my uncle’s place — and then maybe go for a walk or a swim at a beach nearby. The perfect day is topped off with a drink in the sunshine outside one of the village’s pubs. So between lots of fresh sea air, water and sun exposure on any given day, I need to make sure my skin is really well protected. Here are some of my new favourite SPFs. Thankfully, they’ve come a long way from the thick formulas that take an age to absorb and leave you looking paler than you were before your day in the sun.

First up is Ultrasun Extreme SPF 50, €22. I picked it up in Millies pop-up shop in Dundrum. It can be used all over the body, but isn’t heavy like you’d imagine an SPF 50 to be. Great for sensitive skin, it’s packed with antioxidants, vitamin E and B5. It’s unscented and perfect for anyone with allergies — especially as they are the last thing we need flaring up during hayfever season. See millies.ie.

CeraVe Micellar Cleansing Water

CeraVe Micellar Cleansing Water, €11, is a gentle addition to the skincare brand’s line. The first micellar water by CereVe that’s available in Ireland, it works as a make-up remover, and contains niacinamide and three ceramides to protect the skin’s natural barrier. It’s available now from local pharmacies nationwide.

The hello sunday line has a new high-factor SPF that’s light enough to use all year. It also protects against blue light, infrared light and air pollution. New to the range is the one for your eyes Mineral Eye Cream SPF 50, €22, which I am loving right now. See thebeautybasket.ie.
