My mother Margaret is celebrating a big birthday this weekend, so as you read this, we’re all down in my home town of Schull to shower her with love and attention. Funnily enough, my little sister Anna’s due date is this week so who knows — maybe the new baba and their granny will share a birthday! I always love when that happens in families. I always think it’s so, so important to do something to mark these occasions, because we never know what’s around the corner. If you haven’t noticed, I’m all for living in the here and now — see my ‘morning after the night before’ Instagram stories as proof!
So, I just want to take a moment to praise my mum. Mother of eight and effortlessly chic, Margaret has always been wise when it comes to advice, tips and tricks for looking and feeling your best naturally. I would say that I inherited my love for all things beauty from her and, in years to come, if I look even half as good as she does, I will be one happy woman. She really is embracing getting older — and of course, she looks fabulous while doing it. She’s also a doting grandmother who teaches Mini and Maxi so much — and me, ‘the Trionager’ in the process. Happy birthday, Mum — we love you!
Sheet masks are packed with product that can often go to waste. Next time you treat your face, before you throw out the sachet, make sure to get out any of the leftover liquid and rub it on your neck and décolletage.
It didn’t take long for Dior to buddy up with one of the most talked about newcomers in sport in recent times. Eighteen-year-old tennis pro Emma Raducanu was named an ambassador for the brand shortly after winning the women’s singles title at this year’s US Open.
She’s representing the womenswear, skincare and make-up categories — I can’t think of a better match and it signifies the great evolution of Dior. The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy has just been brought into the Dior family too. And these aren’t the only changes the brand has seen lately. Francis Kurkdjian — who was named best perfumer by Cosmétiquemag in 2008 — was appointed as creative director of perfume just last month. One thing that stays the same, however, is Dior’s iconic Backstage Eye Palette, €50.50, brownthomas.com. Always a favourite, whether you’re an actor, athlete or human!
Hillary salon in Ranelagh, is one of my favourite places to pop into for a quick blow-dry with Hillary herself. Or to have my nails neatened up with Toni, or to see the charming Jordan Dunbar of RTÉ’s First Dates and My Yellow Brick Road fame; his outfits are awe-inspiring.
Recently, I gave my expert opinion on their new collaboration with House of EQ when they were deciding on the fragrance for their collection of candles and room sprays.
These are sure to give that chic, sophisticated salon scent in the comfort of our own homes. See hillary.ie
As an undiscovered supermodel, I’m always on the hunt for the best product for runway model brows! Step forward please, Diorshow Kabuki Brow Styler, €28, brownthomas.com. Inspired by the pro make-up artists backstage at shows, the pencil side works on filling with accuracy and fine detail, while the soft brush helps to blend and define for evenly finished brows that wow.
Who else is getting their Christmas wish list together? I am — and I advise you to do the same. Santa baby may not be hurrying down the chimney if we don’t get our acts together soon. So, here goes — I can’t wait to leave this copy of Life lying around the living room for Will to see…
First up is this fancy-pants Chanel N°5 Advent Calendar, €700. It has been setting my heart alight ever since I clapped eyes on it. It’s shaped like a massive bottle of the iconic scent and is chock-full of 27 Chanel products including a bracelet, a one-of-a-kind snow globe, and of course a bottle of N°5. It’s pricey, but it’s definitely a gift that will have whomever gives it to me in my good books forever.
The Resurrection Duo by the Australian cult brand Aēsop is another high-end treat that I have my eye on. The combination of Aromatique Hand Wash and Hand Balm is sure to elevate your hand-washing routine, seeing as it’s something we’re still doing a lot of these days. Order it online through Samui on Drawbridge Street in Cork, and have the softest, best-smelling hands all winter. See samuicork.com.
I’ve Dysoned and gone to heaven! Dyson has released a new colourway, Prussian blue and copper. The Special Edition Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. €399.99, dyson.ie, looks very chic in these shades and the set includes a case, brush and comb.
