Tried and Tested: We found a new facial that will leave your skin glowing (and won't break the bank)
I'm a creature of habit.
I have been using slightly tweaked variations of the same makeup and worn the same hairstyle for most of my adult life - if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? It can take some coaxing for me to try something new and even more for me to fall head over heels in love with a treatment, so you can trust me when I say, I've fallen in love and want to shout it from the rooftops.
Facials that promise the sun, moon and stars are a dime a dozen in Dublin these days, but to deliver on a skincare promise is something of a rarity; that is, before I visited Everyoung salon in Dun Laoghaire.
Owned by Iris Tighe, a beauty industry veteran who was the first woman to bring semi-permanent makeup to Ireland in the '90s, is bringing her cutting edge technologies to the market again. In 2015, she was the first person to bring Fibroblast to our shores and her low-key use of innovative techniques makes for a refreshing change from the over-packaged promises made by some beauty businesses that can often fill our social media feeds.
Now that I'm in my 30s, my skin is changing and more maintenance is required than using the cheapest moisturiser I can find at Boots along with some micellar water.
For more mature skin (which can apply to anyone over 30), there's the Bio Ultimate Facial, which is a non-surgical facelift that helps stimulate natural collagen growth. The machine uses microcurrent technology to reduce the appearance of fine lines and intensely hydrates all your skin - all the things we want (and need)! Its price tag is even better - it's €85 for 75 minutes.
The Personalised Facial (€135) delivers what it promises: it's a customised facial that will leave your skin super cleansed, rejuvenated, tightened and glowing after 100 minutes in the salon and it's my personal favourite. It combines the microcurrent and radio frequencies in one treatment, which is another first among Iris' list of achievements in beauty.
Radio frequency is a big buzz word in beauty and is said to be among the anti-ageing secrets of A-listers like Julianne Moore, which is good enough for me.
On arrival, you are tucked into a cosy treatment bed while Iris begins with a deep cleanse using RF, which makes surprisingly little noise. What is most impressive though is how much dirt comes off my 'clean' skin, which has been apparently weighed down by fake tan and makeup that micellar water just couldn't catch. A facial massage follows, which is just as glorious as it sounds, and naturally stimulates the skin before a cell renewing elastine soft mask is applied.
Overall, it's a relaxing experience in the confines of Everyoung's serene surrounds and I've been known to fall asleep on occasion as Iris works her magic on my skin, which is just an added bonus. I'm hooked.
