Treatment Trial: The white chocolate pedicure
Each week Independent Woman investigates what's new and cutting edge in the battle to remain young and beautiful. This week, in a bid to prepare spring feet for public viewing, we indulged in the ultimate Easter treat for feet - The White Chocolate Pedicure.
What is it?
A deeply luxurious pedicure designed to slough away dead skin, melt away calluses and deeply moisturise our feet using the natural benefits of chocolate. Feet are soaked, exfoliated, moisturised and massaged before nails are shaped and painted.
What's the process?
Ushered into the treatment station, feet are bathed in a cranberry infused soak before being gently exfoliated with a sugar macadamia scrub. Once skin has been prepped, feet are then massaged with a chocolate infused lotion before being dipped in a hydrating white chocolate hot paraffin wax. The treatment ends with nails being trimmed and polished in a shade of your choice.
So where's the luxury?
Oh sorry ... I forgot to mention that while feet are being preened and pampered you get to feast on the delights of strawberries dipped in rich dark chocolate.
How does it work?
The detoxifying cranberry soak helps to break down toxins and condition skin while the scrub is packed with antioxidant properties such as Kukui nut and Coconut oils which soothe and hydrate the skin.
As chocolate is packed with natural oils, a hot chocolate paraffin treatment using the purest white chocolate extract is applied to lock in the moisture and keep feet looking supple and soft.
What are the benefits?
As well as being an uber luxurious way to spend an afternoon, the sheer length of this pedicure and the amount of steps involved mean those bobbly bits on feet don't stand a chance. Feet are left super smooth, perfectly preened and smelling good enough to eat!
How long does it take?
A gorgeously decadent 75 minutes. As the treatment finishes with a file and polish, you may wish to give yourself some extra drying time and pack those flip flops - toe nails are very easy to smudge!
The best bit?
Being smothered in chocolate without ruining your diet! Chocolate strawberries aside, this is a serious treat for feet.
Anyone thinking they can simply leave the salon with anything less than an insatiable craving for coco will be sorely disappointed. After spending the best part of an hour and a half surrounded by chocolate I'm afraid to say I can no longer look at nail polish without getting some serious Creme Egg cravings.
How much is it?
The White Chocolate Pedicure costs €80 and is available at the Mink Hand & Foot Spa, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
