Treatment Trial: Lycon Chocolate Waxing
With the summer season just around the corner, we at Independent Woman have been turning our attention to smoother skin. This week, in a desperate search for fuzz free limbs, we sampled celebrity favourite, the Lycon Chocolate Wax.
What is it?
A specially formulated waxing treatment. Claiming to remove hair gently, Lycon Chocolate Wax is infused with cocoa and hazelnut oils which work to nourish as well as strip.
What's the process?
The treatment begins with a a chocolate-oil massage which works to protect the skin at the pre-wax stage. A hot chocolate wax is then applied with a spatula before being swiftly removed with a strip of cotton. With waxing out of the way, an apricot and sandalwood calming lotion is applied which helps to soothe skin and reduce redness.
How does it work?
Quite smoothly. The pre-waxing oil acts as a barrier between the skin and the wax which helps the waxing strips glide away from skin. As naturally calming ingredients in the wax helps to condition skin, inflammation is seriously reduced.
What are the benefits?
Lycon wax removes the dermal-papilla (that's the full root to you and me) and problems normally associated with waxing like in-grown hairs, bruises and redness become much less of a problem. For those with a fondness for chocolate, the fragrance also smells good enough to eat!
Who likes it?
Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller and Gwyneth Paltrow are all said to be fans.
How long does it take?
Lower legs take about 30 minutes.
The pain factor?
For this reviewer, a very respectable 6 out of 10!
And the best bit?
As the wax can remove hair as short as 1mm, even the smallest and most stubborn hairs were removed with none of the tell tale waxing signs.
Chocoholics beware, though it does smell like chocolate, it's still a wax.
I'm in ... where to next?
The Lycon Chocolate Wax is priced from €25 for a lower leg and available from Brazilia, South William Street, Dublin 2. For more information telephone (01) 675 0000.
