Whether you’re planning to dance ’til dawn, stepping out to dinner or just chilling at home, there’s a perfect NYE beauty look for you
Get your pout in tip-top shape for kisses under the glitter ball this New Year's Eve with this natural gem of a lip balm, packed with plumping olive oil, shea butter and beeswax. Our lips become dry because they have no working sebaceous glands and the skin is super thin there. Age can play a factor, too: as we get older, cracks and wrinkles can appear on our lips and they can lose definition and volume. Apivita Bio Eco Honey Lip Care, €6, available from pharmacies
The look: Strong, matte, cool-red lip; clean face and fluttering lashes - a classic, elegant party look that will work for any kind of bash.
Wear it to: This look can take you anywhere: NYE dinner or party - even dancing till dawn!
How to do it: The key here is to get the right red lipstick that suits your skin tone. Naomi Watts is wearing Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in Carina's Love, a true-matte, cool-toned red that suits her fair skin; it will also suit lots of porcelain-skinned Irish women. Use the smallest amount of highlighting on the tops of cheek and brow bones, and the inner corner of your eyes. Keep hair in a far side parting, straight but with the tiniest bit of texture at the very ends. Team this look with statement earrings and you're the picture of elegance, with zero fuss!
The look: Pared-back, fresh-faced make-up and natural hair.
Wear it to: Chilling at home having a hygge- themed NYE, or a super low-key ringing in of the New Year at a friend's house. Not everyone fancies heading out for New Year's Eve - some of us will be chilling on our couches at home - but we all want to look well for the NYE selfies!
How to do it: Keep your skin fresh and glowing, your eyes bare but brows well groomed and defined. A soft, peachy blush and some clear gloss on lips, and you've nailed the au naturel vibe. Hair is kept super simple, clean with a tiny bit of natural movement.
Groomed and glam
The look: Sleek, understated, clean make-up paired with slicked-back, groomed hair.
Wear it to: A classic look when you need to get ready in a jiffy, this can be done in record time and is perfect for NYE dinner plans.
How to do it: Keep skin fresh, just using concealer and foundation. Steer clear of heavy blush, powder or contouring. Apply one tone of neutral eye shadow with tons of mascara and opt for a tawny lip. Using gel, slick hair into a ponytail or bun and you're done!
The look: Full-blown, high-voltage glamour. Glowing statement make-up and flowing hair.
Wear it to: Perfect for a New Year's Eve ball, or any bash that requires plenty of style - from top to toe! You're going all out this NYE and want to look the part.
How to do it: This is a look that involves a fair bit of effort and time! Blow-dry your hair, curl the ends and then brush out. If you're not great at doing your own hair, it could be worth booking in with a professional. Focus make-up on the eyes, using warm bronzes and tawny browns. Add warming bronzer to cheeks, then end with a pop of glossy nude-brown on lips.

How can we keep our hair in great condition year round?
I aim to pop into my salon for a trim every six weeks. I used to put it off as I was mad to let my hair grow, but split ends were just travelling up my hair so the condition suffered and it looked drier. Now I much prefer blunt, healthy ends.
And what about during party season?
Ask for the Kérastase K Water treatment when you head into your local salon this winter - my favourite salon is Hermans Hair Salon (hermans.ie). This treatment adds that glossy shine everyone craves and will have your hair looking lustrous for the party season!
What can blondes do to keep their hair in top condition?
Natulique Organic Colour! I often get asked if I wear hair extensions, but I don't need to thanks to Natulique. There's no way I could have thick, blonde hair if it wasn't for this organic colour. I'm able to be a bright blonde without compromising the condition of my hair. I switched about five years ago when I was first pregnant, and despite having three kids in that time, my hair has stayed thick throughout all my pregnancies and post-partum periods.
