Nicole Richie is the latest celebrity to join the no make-up movement

We're seeing a rising trend in celebrities ditching make-up to embrace their natural beauty.

It started with the #nomakeupselfie trend on social media where celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keyes shared photos of their bare-faced beauty.

Alicia took it one step further and embraced it as a lifestyle choice, forgoing her usual full make-up look to let her true beauty shine, gorgeous freckles and all.

We've seen singer Alessia Cara (20) and model Cara Delevingne (23) regularly step out sans cosmetics and it looks like Nicole Richie is the latest celebrity to follow suit.

The fashion designer daughter of Lionel Richie has favoured a pared-back beauty look in recent years but she now appears to be comfortable to going completely make-up free.

While Alicia gave up make-up to escape the pressure to conform to the way our culture expects us to look and Alessia did it so that people would focus on her music instead of her looks, Nicole's reasons are slightly different.

The mum-of-two explained to People magazine that she doesn't like the way make-up clogs her skin.

Her reason proves that make-up is a personal choice and the decision to go without, doesn't have to adhere to any criteria.

For too long women have been put under societal pressure to look a certain way but now people are starting to realise that it doesn't matter.

It's your face and you can do what you want with it.
