Holly Carpenter shares her must-have beauty products
Model, blogger and recent Celebrity MasterChef Ireland contestant Holly Carpenter (hollycarpenterblog.com) is a big beauty buff and masking fan. Below, she gives us the inside track on how she gets that gorgeous, glowing skin.
What are your hero beauty products?
Fake Up by Benefit; Dipbrow Pomade in medium brown by Anastasia Beverly Hills; Bright Lift Serum by KIKO Milano; Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillow Talk; and my trusty tube of Elizabeth Arden.
What is your usual skincare routine?
I use Image Skin Care Clear Cell Face Wash, and the brand's Illuma Intense Brightening Serum. During the day I wear their Prevention + Daily Matte Moisturiser with SPF 32+.
Do you use masks or multimask? If so, what are the skin benefits you find from using them?
I use a mask at least once a week. Mud masks are great for when I have a breakout at my time of the month. To help brighten my skin, I'll either use a really hydrating gel-based mask or an exfoliating one, which is great for removing dead skin. I think using masks can make me look like I've had a few extra hours' sleep.
What is your favourite skin mask to use?
Right now I'm loving Thirstymud by Glamglow.
What is the biggest mistake women make with their skincare routine?
I think a lot of Irish women are great for lashing on the SPF50 when they're on holidays, but can sometimes forget to wear it on Irish soil.
What is the best tip/trick-of-the-trade you've picked up from modelling?
Before I worked with make-up artists, I hardly ever cleaned my make-up brushes properly. It can be a bit of a chore, but I'll do anything that keeps breakouts at bay!
What is the biggest beauty myth, in your opinion?
That you have to decide on wearing either a bold lip or a smoky eye, never both. I know in many cases less is more, but sometimes you can't beat a red lip AND a smoky eye combo for the full on glam factor.
