Make-Up Muse: Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba dazzled in a blue frock by Atellier Versace and teamed a classic look with soft eyes, red lips and a rather demure Grecian do, at the Orange British Academy Film Awards recently.
To steal Jessica's style a perfect base is key, so giving skin a helping hand with a foundation primer will go a long way. Assuming you've been smoothed but not smothered, work a sheer foundation from the centre of the face to hairline and keep the finish even.
Conceal any remaining sins by paying particular attention to the under eye area. Bobbi Brown's Face Touch Up Stick works a treat at neutralising under eye circles as well as imperfections and blemishes - just make sure to dab rather than rub for the finish.
Although we may not all be blessed with Jessica's bone structure some clever contouring and a touch of highlighter will give cheeks similar structure. Using a large brush work a light bronzer like Soap and Glorys Solar Powder Bronzer lightly along the hairline, across cheek bones and down the side of your face towards the chin.
Cheeks can then be given lift by gently dabbing a highlighter like Benefits High Beam along the cheek bones blending at the edges for a natural finish.
To seal all your good work, finish with a swirl of loose powder.
With such great skin it's no wonder Jessica likes to keep her eyes natural. Working from palettes of browns and creams is a must. As base is everything an eyelid primer like Catrice's Eye Shadow Base will bring in earth shades perfectly and for colour, gently work a light brown like MAC's Era across the lid and into the crease. By working in layers and blending outwards, you will be sure not to overstep that natural, subtle sense of colouring.
To finish the eyes two things are needed. A darker brown to give some depth to the look, and a liquid liner to give lashes a lift. For the brown, work Estee Lauder's Chocolate Bliss along the top and bottom lash lines and blend until the finish is smokey. For the lashes, get some glam with a gentle brush of liner across the top lid and flick out the edges for a more feminine flourish. If you still find your missing some impact, a volumising mascarra like The Falsies by Maybeline should give the desired effect.
As Jessica keeps her eye look understated her lips are given the treatment for added glam. For a similar wow factor, prep lips by lining with Bobbi Brown's Lip Pencil In Beige before gently brushing on a strong matte red lipstick similar to MAC's Ruby Woo.
Jessica's elegant Grecian up-do pulls the whole look together and allows her dress and her styling to shine. As good as life on a red carpet may be, taking this look into the office might be a little ambitious, so for a simpler take on Jessica's style, try a swept bun with a single plait for now.
We love this look!
