Hair stylist to the stars James Brown reveals how to create this summer’s hottest dos.

Holiday hair is as much about looking sizzling hot in the sun as it is about practicality.

Whether you are looking for an effortless style to keep your curls under control on the beach or bohemian waves to rival the Mediterranean sea, celebrity hairdresser James Brown has the answer.

From mini-braids to wet-look twists, the man who prides himself on his “rock’n’roll Bardot" signature style has explained how to create this summer’s must-have looks in a few easy steps.

And with a client list that boasts the likes of Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwyneth Paltrow, who better to quiz on beautiful holiday hair?

“Don’t worry about taking your usual hair routine on holiday. Take a break from heat styling and fiddly up-dos. Instead, focus on protecting it from the sun with a leave-in conditioner and, in the evening, do something simple with the beachy texture,” James told the latest edition of Glamour magazine.

The stylist chose a number of relaxed looks for both daytime fun and late night fiestas.

For a day spent by the sea, the beauty expert recommends tying back your mane into a messy low-sitting ponytail with a soft side parting.

“This looks good with unwashed roots. Push hair into a ponytail, then apply one spritz of dry shampoo all over for a fluffy finish,” he advised.

For a playful style that will take you from day to night, James suggested to wear your hair down and add some mini braids.

“Plait the front sections from your eye-line down - keep them rough. Backcomb the ends a bit, then spray with dry shampoo to finish,” he said.

Both of James’ looks can be created with Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry Shampoo, Matrix Color Care Shine Shake and James Brown London Shine & Fragrance Mist.
