Scarlett Johansson has confessed to panicking before a recent makeup-free photo shoot.

The Captain America: The Winter Soldier actress took part in Vanity Fair’s 20th anniversary celebrations by posing for the camera without a scrap of makeup on.

And while speaking to Queen Latifah on her chat show Tuesday, Scarlett admitted she was nervous about the whole situation.

“It seemed so close, move that camera... I want to put my hair in my face and make it messy,” she recalled.

The 29-year-old wasn’t the only Hollywood starlet to embrace the natural shots. Labor Day actress Kate Winslet also went au naturel for photographer Chuck Close who revealed that pristine portraits are not his strong suit.

“'I don't do glamour shots, and they're not airbrushed or whatever. So they can be, um...they can be rough,” he told Vanity Fair at the time.

Since then, Scarlett has revealed more than just her bare face to the camera. In her latest film, Under the Skin, Scarlett plays a seductive alien luring men back to her home to ‘harvest’ them and in one scene, she goes completely nude.

“You kind of have to weigh the value of the risk you are taking, is this gratuitous? Is this a vanity project, or is this an important part of this character's journey to self discovery ... I'm not a provocative person.

"It's not like I live to be photographed in the buff or anything like that,” she explained to reporters after the film’s release. “It really made me aware of when I was doing it, all the kinds of judgments and all of these things we place on ourselves. How self-conscious you can be about the way you look, your own vanity ... It was really challenging but it was interesting.”
