French beauty blogger Marie Lopez is in hot water with her fans after recommending a cinnamon facial, which many complained burned their skin.

The vlogger, who has more than two million subscribers to her You Tube channel, boasted about the DIY facemask using at-home products including chocolate, banana and the cinnamon in question.

One disgruntled fan told L'Express newspaper they burned their skin and their cheeks are "dry as straw".

Dermatologists also warned about the possible allergic reactions testers could have to the mask.

Lopez said her recipe was "as old as the world" and has personally sworn by it for several years and added that "common sense" should be applied when using it.

“It’s obvious you should test a mask on your skin before applying it fully. If you feel it burning, don’t you remove it? Have a little common sense," she responded.
