With the wind and winter weather being the scourge of effortless styling, our attentions have turned to our hair. Blown about from pillar to post and sorely lacking a certain seasonal something, we at Independent Woman have spent the week scrunching, spritzing and spraying in order to bring you our favourite winter styling products.

The party season is fast approaching, so limp locks begone with four of the best:

Best for texture : Davines No 14 Sea Salt Primer

Working just as well on wet hair as it does on dry, limp light locks lacking lustre will find plenty of texture in Davines No 14 Sea Salt Primer. The salt-based, though sweet smelling, spray transforms flat hair in just a few pumps leaving tousled, natural waves full of volume. This would be good enough in itself, but the fact that it also makes those pesky stray strands stay stuck makes it even better. As styling on the go is also a cinch, we think this one's a keeper.

Priced at €21.25 for stockist's phone 0044 2890461665.

Best mousse: Shu Uemura's Ample Angora Foam

Flat hair in need of some bounce need look no further then Shu Uemura's Ample Angora volumising light foam. Perfect for fine hair, the light mousse is enriched with Japanese Cedar which has the singular ability to give all of the lift with none of the crunch.

Heavy hands should be left at home as a few drops applied to wet hair should be more then enough to restore the volume. Fragranced with Green florals and Lilly of the Valley, the fragrance is divine.

Available from selected salons priced at €24

Short and sweet: Redken's Wax Blast

If your short styling is leaving you a touch short on style, revive with a liberal spritz of Redken's Wax Blast. Designed to add body as well as dimension, the product gives a wax finish with the convenience of an aerosol. As no sticky hands are required to create a chopped up style this is light, quick and gives an even application. None of the stick, none of the stiffness - this has cult product written all over it.

Available from selected salons priced at €16

Best for shine: Orofluido's Shine Spray

Dull hair lacking in lustre can rediscover its mojo courtesy of Orofluido's Shine Spray. The ultra light formula doesn't weigh hair down and is packed with nourishing goodies like Linseed Oil to smooth and Cyprus Oil to nourish and soften. If all that were not enough the formula also has the benefits of amber and vanilla. What these do for health and shine I'm none too sure but as the ingredients smell divine this is perfect.

Available from selected salons priced at €14.95
