Exclusive: Adriana Lima reveals the exercise you can try which has transformed her body
There are few names more synonymous with Victoria's Secret than Adriana Lima.
The Brazilian supermodel has been working with the lingerie giant for the last 18 years. Ahead of the opening of Victoria's Secret's first store on Dublin's Grafton Street next week, we were given the only Irish interview with one of our reigning girl crushes, before she walked the the runway for the annual fashion show in Shanghai, China. And no, she won't be flying in to the capital over the weekend, but a trip here is on the cards.
How are you preparing for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year?
I try to live a healthy lifestyle all year around. I definitely amp up my workouts around the show to more days and am a little more strict on cutting out sweets.
What is the one type of exercise you swear by?
Boxing. It has completely transformed my body. It's very intense and makes you sweat.
When you're travelling, how do you fit in your fitness regime?
I personally find it to be very hard to work in fitness into my travel, but I always bring my jump rope and workout clothes just in case. Usually there is always a treadmill in my hotel and if not, running outside is a great way to get to know the city you are in.
How does it feel to be considered an icon among the VS brand?
The word icon is so powerful. I'm so grateful that people think of me in that way. I truly just love the brand and the fact that they want to make women feel confident and sexy and that's why Ive been with them for so long.
Having been involved with the show and brand for so long, what has changed the most for you?
The show has changed tremendously. It's gotten bigger and better each year. It's travelled around the world to London, Paris and now in Shanghai.
What are you most looking forward to at this year's show?
The musical talent. I love all of the guys performing. They are super talented and our Chinese performer is strong and sexy pop sensation.
What is the one beauty product you can't live without?
How do you keep your skin in good shape when you're travelling?
I love natural oils. Traveling can really tire you out but a nice oil moisturises just enough.
What advice would you give to aspiring models?
Be true to yourself. Never compromise your morals and your character.
Finally, have you ever been to Ireland? If not, come over!
I have never been, but I hear the countryside is so beautiful. I would love to go and see if for myself one day and meet all of the Victoria's Secret fans.
Victoria's Secret opens in Dublin on Tuesday, December 5
