Cindy Crawford on ageing gracefully: 'I'm not going to look 20, or 30. I just want to look great for 50'
Cindy Crawford said she is more confident in her own skin at 50 than she was in her 20s.
The fashion icon celebrated the landmark birthday in February this year and has been consistently hailed as one of the most beautiful women in the world for decades.
Speaking to New Beauty magazine, Cindy shared the secrets to her youthful complexion and stressed how important it is to not buckle under pressure.
"No matter what I do, I'm not going to look 20, or 30. I just want to look great for 50," she shrugged. "I exercise, eat healthy and take really good care of my skin. There's pressure on women to do the undoable, which is not age. But it's about looking great for however old you are, regardless of what that number is.
"My face doesn't have a lot of lines yet because I really take care of my skin. In some ways, I have more confidence about my skin at 50 than I did in my 20s."
The star often gives fans a glimpse into her beauty regime on social media, regularly posting photos on Twitter and Instagram. Despite her supermodel status, and having worked for top brands such as Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana over the years, Cindy still finds herself under fire from Internet trolls.
"I don't need everyone on Instagram pointing out that I don't look the same way I did when I was 20," she bemoaned. "I know that. Sometimes when you're in the public eye, it can be hard, and that's where you kind of have to work on yourself."
Another area of change which Cindy is growing to embrace is her hair, as the brunette beauty didn't expect the texture of her tresses to transform so much. She can't help but envy the locks of her daughter, Kaia Gerber, 15, and long for what used to be.
"I look at my daughter and I'm always like, 'You have my old hair and I want it back!' Her hair looks great even if she goes to sleep with it wet," Cindy sighed.
