Brunette locks are the way forward
Blondes may have more fun, but brunettes are more on-trend at the moment, as dark locks are the look of the season.
It’s a look which is easy to get right – just look at stars such as Kim Kardashian and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who would never dream of changing their signature hair shade for any great length of time. When done right, dark locks glimmer with health, and seem shiny and lustrous. However, it’s just as easy to get the look wrong. This can be disastrous as very dark brown or black colour is hard to remove, so take time to pick the correct shade before reaching for the bottle.
Very dark hair generally works best on women with dark or olive skin, and brown or pale-coloured eyes. It’s also a look which can be hard to pull off as you get older, and is best kept for younger women.
Make changing your shade a gradual process, that way it won’t be too dramatic if it goes wrong. It’s also best to start with a semi-permanent hue as it’s better for your hair. If you’re not sure consult your stylist for tips – especially if you already have colour on your locks which may affect the overall outcome.
If the thought of going black fills you with terror try adding a few dark streaks into your current hair, or adding blonde tips to dark tresses.
