This plus-size model and her best friend just landed a feature in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue
These body confidence best friends are taking their cause from social media to the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Georgia Gibbs, who wears a size six, and Kate Wasley, who wears a size 16, set up their Any Body social media movement earlier this year after they were both criticised for their physiques and Gibbs was accused of photoshopping her pal to make her look bigger in pictures.
The Australian duo have been named as the magazine's new joint Rookie of The Year, an opportunity which is usually used to segue into larger features in the magazine and a successful career as a swimsuit and lingerie model and they're in good company with Sara Sampaio, Barbara Palvin and Ashley Graham as fellow alumni.
Before the issue hits stands in February 2018, SI has begun its lengthy publicity process and earlier this month announced that Sailor Brinkley, legendary supermodel Christie Brinkley's daughter would also be a Rookie this year, after she appeared with her mother and sister Alexa Ray Joel in this year's edition. New York-based model Raven Lyn was also named as a new addition.
The decision is the latest in a string of body positive steps the magazine has taken in recent years. Graham was the first ever plus-size model to feature on the 2017 cover and Hunter McGrady, another curvy model, graced the pages of the annual publication.
Your move, Victoria's Secret.
