Beauty Boutique lips, liners and motherly love
Lip scrubs, foolproof liquid liner and Mothers' Day beauty treats are all in the mix at the Beauty Boutique - Independent Woman's weekly run down of what to get, what to try and where to go for it.
Nails inc have given more then a nod at SS10's pastel trend. The latest editions to their polish family are four sherbet shades including pastel blue (Chalk farm), pink (Birdcage Walk), green (spring mews) and purple (Devonshire Row). This week I got my mitts on spring mews and my spoilt talons were also treated to two coats of birdcage walk. The cloudy pink polish should be perfect if you prefer a more neutrally natural nail. The new shades are available at Nails inc, priced at €16.50 each or bag all four for €32.
Position of the fortnight
It seems I'm the last in the world to know that the cat flick technique isn't actually something involving the bedroom gymnastics of Sting and Trudi Styler. This March will see the launch of MAC's penultimate eyeliner, a liquid pen-style liner which for the most part is fool proof. On occasion I've ended up looking more panda then cat when experimenting with liquid liner but this product was easy to use and once I'd steadied my hand I was pleased with the results. The penultimate eyeliner will be at MAC counters in March and is priced at €19.
If your looking to combine a craving for sweet things with a beauty fix may I recommend the new lip scrub from Lush. Made from caster sugar and organic jojoba oil the scrub is designed to gently smooth away dead skin using an exfoliant which tastes like bubble-gum. The good news, despite feeling a little like Veruca Salt in Willy Wonker when using it, is that it's pretty decent at doing what it says on the jar and left me with a perfect pucker ready for spring ! Available for €6.75 from Lush.
Trish McEvoy's new Even Skin range features a bit of a hidden gem. The Beta Hydroxy Pads containing BHA are designed to enhance skin tone, texture and clarity by gently wiping out dead skin cells and maximising cell turnover. BHA works as an exfoliant by penetrating deep into pores to rid the skin of dead cells to make room for new ones. Although pricey, €108 for 40 pads the product should last close to ten months when used weekly. Available from Trish McEvoy at Harvey Nichols.
