Each week we at Independent Woman investigate what's new and cutting edge in the battle to remain young and beautiful. This week, in a desperate bid to blast the bags from under our eyes we took a trip to sample the The Yonka Eclat Contour Eye Treatment.

What is it?

A holistic eye treatment designed to combat dark circles and fight those under eye bags. Skin is cleansed, exfoliated and nourished with a combination of lavender and rosemary infused lotions leaving stressed out peepers bright and perky.

What's the process?

The treatment begins with a lavender facial cleanse before a rosemary infused exfoliating cream is massaged around the eyes and left to settle. Eyes are then treated to a deep exfoliation and a lymph drainage massage before a hydrating eye mask is applied. The treatment finishes with a course of refreshing toner infused with essential oils.

How does it work?

It's all down to the herbs. As well as being good for the kitchen rosemary works as an active ingredient to help minimise the pores.

Working deep into skin, the ingredients help clear congestion, reduce inflammation and combat that puffiness. Combined with a lymph draining massage, the ingredients used work naturally to minimises the appearance of dark circles and reduce under eye bags.

What are the benefits?

Brighter, firmer, clearer eyes in a jiffy. As well as treating dark circles and under eye bags, eyelids are also toned and signs of fatigue are reduced. As for those finer lines and awkward wrinkles, the treatment goes a long way toward reduction as getting skin tissue hydrated is a big part of the treatment.

How long does it take?

A lunchtime special. You're in and out in only 45 minutes.

And the best bit ?

The lymph draining massage. My therapist worked my pressure points to perfection. By the time I emerged my eyes were calm and my thumping headache was a distant memory.

Any downsides?

The exfoliator stings. As it's packed with active plant extracts you can certainly feel it getting to work on skin around the eyes.

Thankfully the active ingredient only comes into contact with skin for a minute so there isn't too much discomfort. Another upside is that the treatment won't leave those tell tale red marks.

I'm in .... where to next ?

The Yonka Eclat Contour Eye Treatment is priced at €50 and is available from Elysian Brows, 21 Dawson Street Dublin. For more information telephone 01 678 8260 or visit
