Bairbre Power

Late honeymoons turn up in all sorts of delightful ways. Laura Jayne Halton married Ronan at Villa Grabau in Tuscany but they never got a honeymoon at the time. Fast-forward to last week when Laura Jayne won the Best Dressed prize at the Continentally Classic style event in the InterContinental Hotel after Ladies' Day at the RDS.

Laura Jayne (left) wore a chic purple and red two-piece she only finished making the night before, and it was inspired by the lavender and flowers in her mother's garden. Her lavender headpiece came from Designs by Shimmer Millinery. Laura Jayne won a seven-night Princess Mediterranean cruise, flights and a stay at InterContinental Dublin, which she said will be her much-needed honeymoon.

She was photographed with milliner Michelle Kearns, who was the runner-up wearing one of her own hats and a sequin Zara dress. Michelle won a dream break at the Powerscourt Hotel while Lawson Mpame (left) won the Best Dressed Man prize in a yellow linen suit. He was photographed with InterContinental GM Nicky Logue, who presented him with a voucher for a stay at Glenlo Abbey.

Many of Dublin's well-known Italian restaurateurs and members of the Irish-Italian community joined the Associazione Terra di Amatrice Onlus for an elegant evening to support the rebirth of Amatrice, which was struck by a devastating 6.2 magnitude earthquake in 2016.

Chef Edward Hayden, whose delicious ice creams we all loved in last week's Weekend mag, is on the move and you can catch him at the Taste of Donegal Food Festival next Saturday.
