Then join Lidl, who will be back this year with their Barn offering samples of the very best of Irish food from food producers around the country.
There are so many exciting food stories coming out of Ireland right now and Lidl wants to share them with thousands of visitors – from cupboard staples to more adventurous and innovative new tastes using the best of Irish ingredients, recipes and ideas.
Fresh from his hugely-successful stint hosting the Rose of Tralee again this year, RTÉs Daithi Ó Sé will be in the Lidl Barn to introduce local suppliers and invite everybody to sample some delicious and locally sourced food.
There will also be a selection of Kickstart suppliers who are smaller suppliers that have been hitting the headlines since been given a chance to supply Lidl with their products for a limited edition ‘Best of Ireland’ promotion. Lidl now spends a massive €700m a year on Irish produce.
A record-breaking 283,000 people attended the event last year, making it the most successful National Ploughing Championships in history.
This year, Lidl, which now supports over 200 Irish suppliers and sources 100% of its fresh meat and poultry in Ireland, will be right at the centre of the Ploughing and showcase of the very best of Irish agriculture and food.
Visitors can get in to the celebratory atmosphere and enjoy live music from Derek Ryan and lots of lively cooking demonstrations. There will also be an opportunity to win hundreds of Lidl vouchers.
If you plan on popping by, there will also be the chance to say hi to the people behind Lidl’s award winning charity partnership with Barretstown where kids can enjoy activities and be entertained. Lidl has raised a phenomenal €1.8m to date for Barretstown.
The 3 day event – which takes place in Tullamore, Co. Offaly on September 19th, 20th and 21st is estimated to have an economic impact of over €35m with over 300 competitors, 1700 exhibitors and almost 2 million feet of trade space.
