‘I did a quick scan of the countries of the world and counted up 95’ - Kathryn Thomas

We speak to Kathryn Thomas about all things travel.

When it comes to travel in Ireland, there is no bigger name than Kathryn Thomas.

Kathryn fronted the RTÉ travel programme No Frontiers for over 10 years and it made her a household name. So much so, that before we meet she was recognised by someone outside the Westbury Hotel as “the girl off that travel show” by a passerby.

We met Kathryn at the launch of Aer Lingus’ new loyalty programme Aer Club. Kathryn still travels often and is an ambassador for AerClub.

After all those years on the road, Kathryn has never lost her love for travelling. Even after the show wrapped in 2010, Kathryn couldn’t bring herself to put away her rucksack because she always wants to be ready for her next adventure.

Known for being an Irish travel expert, Kathryn has picked up some great tips but even she admits she has made some big travel mistakes along the way too.

Find out Kathryn’s biggest travel mishap and hear all about her time on No Frontiers:

AerClub, the new loyalty programme of Aer Lingus rewards people who fly with Aer Lingus in a variety of ways. Even those who only fly a few times a year can qualify for some real benefits. The best part? It's free to join.

Once you’ve signed up you can collect Avios points everytime you fly with Aer Lingus or their airline partners. You can then use your Avios points towards flights when you want to treat yourself to a European city break or that long planned trip to New York City - all you have to do is pay for taxes, fees and charges in cash.

You can collect more Avios points when booking your hotel for your next break away through Holidays with Aer Lingus, Rocketmiles and Kaligo. Joining AerClub and collecting Avios points is a smart way to turn your shopping into flights. You can also collect Avios points on your everyday shopping with AerClub's many retail partners such as converting your Real Rewards points with SuperValu, shopping at Kildare Village or even online via Avios eStore, which you can then spend on reward flights.

AerClub has a tiered membership, Green, Silver, Platinum and Concierge and the more you fly, the more benefits you’ll accrue. Each level has benefits from collecting Avios points to priority boarding, lounge access and companion tickets. Green is the entry level membership and signing up will automatically give you membership.

Get rewards by choosing to fly Aer Lingus. For more information and to join AerClub, click here.
